Handmade with care in Geelong, VIC, this bed frame is designed for both independence and connection, inspired by Montessori floor beds. A Montessori floor bed creates a safe and open space for your child to sleep, play, and explore—unlike a traditional crib, which limits movement and discovery.

It includes sturdy under-mattress slats for secure support and airflow.

Materials

We use raw untreated Blackbutt for its stunning honey-brown tones, durability, and because it’s native to Australia, helping reduce the environmental impact of importing timber.

Our beds are free from toxic chemicals and paint—no H3 or Copper chrome arsenate (CCA) treatments. Trust us, you won’t want that stuff when your little one starts chewing on everything, including the bed!

We handmade each bed and pay close attention to every detail—no rough spots or knots, ensuring it is safe for your child.

  • Locally and kindly sourced

    We use Australian native Blackbutt sourced from sustainably managed forests, no imports. Choosing local hardwood supports responsible forestry and reduces the need for imported materials with a higher environmental footprint. We also upcycle and recycle wherever possible, especially when it comes to our slats, giving materials a second life with care.

  • No toxins or chemical sprays

    Blackbutt is naturally termite-resistant, so there's no need for chemical treatments or toxic preservatives which makes it a safe, reliable choice for children’s furniture. We leave our timber raw - no varnishes, oils, or waxes - meaning there’s nothing off-gassing into your child’s room. Just pure, untreated wood that’s safe for little hands and lungs.

  • Easy to clean, ages beautifully

    From our experience with our daughter, little messes - like milk spills or water drops - wipe off easily. Unlike lighter timbers, such as straw-coloured pine, which tend to show every mark and are harder to clean, Blackbutt stays looking fresh with minimal effort. And all this without any varnishes, oils or wax being applied

  • Can handle numerous disassemblies

    Hardwood is dense, so screw holes don’t wear out — unlike softwoods, where even one disassembly can strip the screws and leave the bed unusable. Hardwood makes furniture long lasting and easy to take apart when moving house, renovating, or changing rooms.
