Hi, we’re Pelota — the Spanish word for ‘ball,’ symbolizing play and movement.
We design and handcraft practical, Montessori-inspired floor beds that nurture independence, curiosity, and safe exploration—while giving parents the freedom to enjoy bedtime stories, co-sleep when needed, and finally get some good sleep too.
Each bed is thoughtfully handmade on the Surf Coast, VIC, using sustainably harvested Australian hardwoods, built to be durable and long-lasting. Our minimalist, toxin-free designs support children's focus and allow parents to finish the timber their desired way—raw, oiled, or painted.

Meet Radi - The heart and mind behind Pelota
I grew up in the mountains of Bulgaria, where my childhood was filled with freedom—hiking with friends, swimming in rivers, and exploring nature from sunrise to sunset. That adventurous spirit eventually led me to Australia, a place that felt instantly familiar, like home from a past life. Here on the Surf Coast, I’ve found a life that reflects who I am: creative, grounded, and connected to nature.
You’ll often find me in the local op shop, hunting for beautiful fabrics to upcycle into my next sewing project. I feel most alive when I’m surfing, riding my bike along the coast, or simply soaking in the rhythm of the natural world. I grew up close to my grandparents, who made cheese from the milk of the family cow, baked bread on an open fire, and crafted yoghurt from scratch. They taught me the joy of simple living—growing food, cooking with love, and finding meaning in everyday rituals.
Now, as a mother, my purpose is to pass that spirit on to my daughter—to help her stay rooted in life’s simple pleasures, even in a world full of distractions.
‘Less is more’ is at the heart of what we do.
In a world filled with overconsumption and constant distractions, we encourage parents to choose less—but practical furniture that truly supports their child's development.

Our Story
When I became a mum, I fell in love with the Montessori philosophy—raising children to be brave, independent, and free to explore. When our daughter was seven months old, we searched for a Montessori floor bed but couldn’t find one—so we built it ourselves. Skipping the traditional cot, we went straight to a "big girl" bed, and we never looked back.
That simple project sparked something deeper. It brought me back to my childhood in Bulgaria - hammering nails in my parents’ woodworking workshop. It felt like a full-circle moment. Seeing a real need for these beds, I knew it was time for a change. I left my career and took the leap into this new adventure.
What could be more fulfilling than creating something that empowers children, makes life easier for parents, and keeps my family's furniture-making tradition alive—this time, on the other side of the world?
Good sleep. Happy days.
The floor bed that helps both, children and parents sleep well and enjoy precious cuddles.
